New Comic Book in Final Production
June 4, 2021
Over the course of the last year, I’ve been working on a comic book that I intend to launch as my first Kickstarter Campaign. For anyone who is unfamiliar with Kickstarter, it’s a crowdfunding website where people post projects of all kinds with the goal of gaining the interest of backers who will pledge to help make their project a reality. With comic book projects, creators generally offer the final printed (or digital) comic book as a reward for backers’ contributions which go toward printing and production costs. Many times the comic book isn’t complete, and the funding will go toward the cost of completion. In my case, all of the work will be done. I’ve done everything including writing, penciling, inking, coloring and lettering myself. The only thing that will need to be done when the Kickstarter campaign is finished will be the printing.
There will be other things like prints, bookmarks and original artwork featuring the characters that will be available, too. Also, as an incentive, I’ll have extra Milestone Goal Rewards that will be included with the comic for anyone backing it. These will require no extra pledge amount and will become unlocked when a predetermined pledge amount on the way to the final goal is reached. That’s another thing—all projects are required to have a dollar amount as a goal and it’s “all or nothing” meaning that you have to reach your funding goal by the end of the campaign, or it won’t be completed and won’t be printed. That means—I’m going to need people like you to back the project! I know people will want to join in the fun when they learn more about the story and the characters. Really… you’re not going to want to miss this!
The comic book will be the first issue of a three issue miniseries appropriate for all ages to read. I wrote the story so kids AND adults could enjoy it. I’m very excited to present this project, so keep watching for more information—there’s only a little more preparation for me to do before the launch!
